Jordan + Kimberly

Roger Williams Park

Providence, RI

There’s nothing better than New England in the fall (can we get an amen?). And this engagement shoot with Jordan and Kimberly catches the full beauty this season has to offer. We headed to Roger Williams Park in Providence, Rhode Island for to do a more comfortable and cozy shoot with this incredible couple and were able to capture the sweetest moments!. The fall foliage as a backdrop only enhanced the beauty of this shoot - take a look at some of our favs!

Paul + Casey

Second Beach

Newport, RI

We recently did the most chill and fun engagement session with Paul and Casey at Second Beach in Newport, Rhode Island. The brisk autumn day made this otherwise popular spot feel like it was our own private beach. So of course, we took full advantage during the shoot! We love the peaceful ambience these photos exude as we see Paul and Casey exploring the long stretch of open beach, calm waves, and soft sand dunes. This couple has us thinking a stroll on the beach is even better in the fall!

Danilo + Andrea

Tower Hill Botanical Center

Boylston, MA

This New England wedding couple happens to be good friends of ours, so it was an honor getting to capture their engagement photos (and engagement video!) in preparation for their spring wedding at the Tower Hill Botanical Center in Boylston, Massachusetts. This down to earth bride and groom are full of charisma and pure love for each other, it’s actually contagious! In the winter season their creative wedding venue serves as a lush oasis for plants, and in the summer it’s the perfect romantic spot for a wedding! We had a ton of fun at this winter engagement session and we’re in love with how beautiful their photos and engagement film came out. June 8th can’t come soon enough!

Our engagement photos came out looking incredible, we love them!

Tyler + Lauren

Colt State Park

Bristol, Rhode Island

Tyler and Lauren are a down to earth, fun loving couple and our wedding photographers loved getting to photograph their windy March engagement session photos. Their two hour engagement session at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island took full advantage of the early evening light and the diversity of their location. This wedding couple knew that they wanted their Save the Date photos to include some scenic photos by the ocean as well as in the woods, and this portrait session location was the perfect fit to get the best of both worlds. We can’t wait to see them again at their wedding this autumn at Oceancliff!

Chris + Christina

Brenton Point + Fort Adams

Newport, RI

Chris and Christina held an intimate elopement ceremony this past month to celebrate their love and life together, and our wedding photographers had the chance to document it! This adventurous couple set out against the winter wind and even some rain to get some elegant, dramatic portrait photos at Brenton Point State Park and at Fort Adams. After being together for almost six years, Chris and Christina’s romantic story and excitement to elope came to life in their photographs! It was a misty, magical day, and this bride and groom took it by storm!

These folks were great. They were a pleasure to deal with and were very creative in their approach. They accommodated all of our random photo requests and their own ideas blew us away, and we got our photos back sooner than we expected. I recommend them whole heartedly!

Engagement Session

Warren, RI

Sometimes the most magical engagement photos can be taken right in the comfort of your home! It was a snowy winter day when our wedding photographers visited this bride and groom’s cozy home for their casual winter engagement session. This was the perfect option for a photo session in February, since the couple was able to stay warm and still take advantage of the snow on the ground outside. We even got some great photos with their dog included! The next time we’ll see these two is at their fall wedding at the Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, Rhode Island, and our wedding photography team can’t wait!

We are in love with our photos and haven’t stopped looking at them!! We are even more excited than before for our wedding photos and are so glad we have Move Mountains Co to document one of the most important days of our lives!

Kevin + Danielle

Castle Island

Boston, MA

Kevin and Danielle took full advantage of their winter engagement session to explore all that Castle Island had to offer. This diverse Boston photo session location had parks, long walkways, and beaches for the happy couple to enjoy with their wedding photographer. The snow on the ground and overcasted skies made for a perfect winter landscape. As for the New England couple, this bride and groom was down to earth, relaxed, and a joy to hang out with! We can’t wait to see them again at their Crowne Plaza Wedding in Warwick, Rhode Island this coming Fall!

The photographers at Move Mountains Co are amazing. They make you feel so comfortable, and do a great job of blending into the background while also capturing all the moments you want. They were also extremely flexible and I really appreciated the attention to detail. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Aaron + Heather

Salve Regina + Forty Steps

Newport, Rhode Island

Engagement session season picks up right as summer wedding season slows down! Aaron and Heather got to meet up with their wedding photographer right before the winter chill rolled in. This happy couple’s adventure began when they met at Salve Regina in Newport, Rhode Island, so it was such an honor to head back to where it all began for their two-hour engagement session. Our top rated wedding photographers loved getting to know the bride and groom while hearing stories and visiting the spots where they first fell in love. Their engagement shoot was the perfect warm up for their wedding photography and videography this upcoming Fall at Gurney’s in Newport. If you’re recently engaged and looking for a wedding photographer or wedding videographer, we’d love to connect!

My fiancé and I had our engagement photos taken this past fall by Move Mountains Co. and we couldn’t be happier with how they came out! They were amazing to work with and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. We were blown away by their attention to detail. Our photographer brought us back to our first location after noticing the lighting from the sunset, which turned out to be some of our favorite pictures. We are so excited to work with the entire Move Mountains Co. team for our wedding next fall!

Tim + Katie

Beavertail State Park

Jamestown, RI

We’ve been looking back at our favorite weddings and engagement sessions from previous wedding seasons and we wanted to share a throwback to Tim and Katie’s engagement session at Beavertail State Park in Jamestown, Rhode Island! Their love story began with just a high school crush, it was incredible to see how far this New England couple had come. By the time the sun set on the beach at the end of their photo session, this bride and groom was more than ready for their wedding the following summer. If you’ve ever been on the fence about having an engagement session, our photographers always recommend trying it! Feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have!

Mike + Mary

Fort Adams

Newport, RI

We initially met Mike and Mary through some mutual friends of ours! When they asked if they could bring their dog to their engagement session, we knew right away that we were going to love them. Our wedding photographers loved getting to explore the historic, rustic interior with this down to earth bride and groom. Fort Adams in Newport, Rhode Island was a special spot for Mike and Mary, as they had many sentimental memories there at the Newport Folk Festival every year. It was an easy photo shoot location to pick for their wedding engagement session, and it resulted in some beautiful, dramatic engagement photos! If you’re getting married in 2020, let’s book your engagement session today!

Sean is so great at capturing moments, it feels so natural and comfortable. I would recommend him to anyone looking for engagement sessions or weddings!!

Jay + Kalyn

Beavertail State Park

Jamestown, RI

Winter’s wind and chilly temperatures couldn’t stop Jay and Kalyn’s waterfront engagement session at Beavertail State Park in Jamestown, Rhode Island! This couple flew in all the way from Michigan to visit family and to get to know their wedding photographer well before their wedding day! This New England couple pushed through the windy weather and their engagement photos came out effortlessly! We loved getting to hear more about their love story, and they were super fun to photograph!

Sean and the rest of the team of Move Mountains Co. were absolutely wonderful to work with! My husband and I are not the most comfortable in front of the camera, but their easy going and relaxed attitudes made us feel so much better. They are warm and accommodating by nature, so they took all the pressure off and blended in seamlessly, and didn’t in any way make us feel so on the spot. They listened to us and gave us all the space we needed, but somehow captured every moment so beautifully.

Beavertail State Park

Jamestown, RI

Every time we visit Beavertail State Park in Jamestown, Rhode Island to photograph our engagement sessions with our recently engaged couples, it’s easy to see that it’s magical! Connor and Amanda’s engagement shoot with their wedding photographer was no exception! We had a blast navigating the beach’s rocky terrain with these two! This was the perfect opportunity for this couple to get comfortable in front of the camera while getting to know their photographer some more! We can’t wait to see them again when they say “I Do” at Fort Adams this September!

“My fiancé and I just had our engagement photos done, and could not be happier with how they came out! The pictures are absolutely beautiful.. And our photographer had them totally complete in less than a week. I can’t wait to work with them at our wedding.”

Chuck + Kristin

Fort Adams

Newport, RI

Wedding photographers are always on the hunt for the best, most awe-inspiring spots to shoot! With old style engineering and rustic structure, Fort Adams in Newport, Rhode Island was just that place! Chuck and Kristin chose to explore Fort Adams and it’s rich history with their wedding photographer, Tiahna, for their dramatic and stunning engagement session. This couple flew all the way from Arizona to be here in Rhode Island for their Newport destination wedding! Chuck actively serves in the United States Marine Corps, and we were honored to spend some time with them before their wedding at the Newport Officer’s Club just a few days later! They brought the energy and excitement to this engagement session (I mean, did you SEE that dip?) and we had a great time photographing their beautiful engagement portraits. Stay tuned to see their wedding photos and wedding video from their wedding day!

Fort Adam's and Her Siren

Inspiration and Initiative

This shoot was inspired by Ben Sasso's work! if you don't know who he is make sure you check out his stuff. I love his style, the type of models he chooses, his often odd prop choices, simple wardrobe choices, and his willingness to help other artists like myself, as I attribute 95% of my photography knowledge from pestering other photographers.

Fort Adam's and Her Siren

Fort Adam's was built in 1798 and named after President John Adam's and was active in five major wars. Today it's a State Park, has a great vibe and is a great place to shoot (no pun intended). The inner rooms are covered in old shiplap and there are antique couches floating around that are great for creative shoots, wedding shoots and engagement photos!

I'd been wanting to shoot at Fort Adam's ever since we helped load film for John Abbott as he photographed up and coming Jazz artist's at the Newport's Jazz Festival or maybe it's been since my best friend got married there back in 2015 (truly a unique wedding venue!)

Since we are mostly in the wedding photography game it's rare that we get a chance to get to work on purely creative projects but it's always a joy when we are able to. This was the first time I had shot Briana and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. She was perfect for the fort and brought the exact energy to the shoot that I hoped she would, although as hard as I persisted she would not play that trumpet (or bugle, not pictured).

Frequency Separation

For photographers...

For the editing I used Ben Sasso's Heck Yeah Presets (The Bright Pack) with Lightroom/Photoshop and a method of photo retouching called frequency separation. It was my second time working with this method. I originally went with using the first tutorial I found on Youtube here, but wasn't getting the results I wanted. I emailed Ben and he sent over the video that he learned from which seems like an even more time consuming method but I think the results are better (however, at that point I was about 75% through the photos and couldn't start over). That video can be found here

If you look at the results of the process, it is definitely worth the time invested.

Jeff + Sam

CARL SCHULTZ PARK, NYC

ENGAGEMENT SESSION

10/7/16

I had never been to Carl Schultz Park in NYC, but it's awesome. It was a perfect day for shooting and Jeff + Sam made it easy, what a fun couple! We can't wait to shoot their wedding next year at The Blithewold Mansion!

Usually the first thing that couples say to me at an engagement shoot (and it never fails) is, and I'm paraphrasing... "we are awkward!" followed by some nervous laughter -haha, but I always tell them the same thing, "thats fine." I can be quite awkward my self, we all can be, but an engagement session is all about being yourselves and having fun. I tell the couple to forget I'm there, and send out small directions like "just be together, talk to each other, make her laugh, ok now look here!" and it usually works.

Hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do!

Kegan + Sade Engagement Session

These two are the most adorable couple I have ever met! I can't wait to shoot their wedding in September! Kegan owns and operates his own landscaping company and Sade does the books. Kegan used to work at this farm and so we used it to shoot their engagement photos.
