3 Tips for Your Engagement Session

Saint Lucy Vincent Beach

Martha’s Vineyard, MA

At Move Mountains Co., we believe that engagement sessions are an integral part of the wedding experience. These sessions allow couples to celebrate their love and capture memories that will last a lifetime. In this resource page, we share some essential tips that will help you make the most of your engagement session.

Tip One: Choose a Recommended Location

Choosing a location is crucial for capturing stunning photos during your engagement session. At Move Mountains Co., we highly recommend using our preapproved locations for best results. Our talented photographers are familiar with these spots around Southern New England and know exactly where to find the perfect lighting and scenery. Choosing a new location can be a bit challenging, and sometimes, it may not yield the best results. Click here to view our recommended locations for your engagement session.

Tip Two: Wear Clothing You Feel Confident and Comfortable In

Your engagement session is all about capturing your love and unique personalities. To help you feel confident and comfortable during your session, we recommend wearing clothing that makes you feel good about yourself. It's essential to choose clothing that reflects your personal style and makes you feel your best. If you're a bit self-conscious, we suggest wearing clothing that won't exacerbate your insecurities.

Tip Three: Dress for the Weather

The weather can be unpredictable, especially in Southern New England. Before your engagement session, check the forecast and dress accordingly. If you're having a beach session in April, wearing a flowy thin dress may not be the best idea as it can be freezing and uncomfortable. Instead, we suggest wearing layers and bringing a jacket or sweater just in case. Being comfortable during your session is essential, so make sure you're dressed for the weather.

We hope these tips will help you prepare for your engagement session and make it a memorable experience. At Move Mountains Co., we are passionate about capturing your love and creating memories that will last a lifetime. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us. We look forward to working with you!

Our photos are unbelievable, we love them! Thank you so much.

Ronald + Melanie

Chase Farm Engagement Session

Lincoln, RI

We’ll be the first to admit that we’re obsessed with Chase Farm… clearly. No matter the season you can place your bets that the MMC team will indeed be shooting there. For this session we have Ronald + Melanie. Both of which whom complimented the romantic late fall vibes perfectly! Take a look for yourself down below.

Mitch + Dayna

Francis William Bird Park

East Walpole, MA

Flash back to this ideal fall engagement shoot we did with Mitch + Dayna. If this doesn’t inspire every single orange leaf loving bone in your body we don’t know what will! These two absolutely killed this session with an outfit change and natural chemistry that carried them throughout the entire shoot! We had so much fun and just can’t wait for their wedding come this August.

Dom + Kelsey

Valley View Farm

Haydenville, MA

On a chilly January day we took to Valley View Farm and joined Dom + Kelsey to shoot their engagement session. Snow, coats, fancy boots, and a green antique truck to top off the look! These two were in their element and absolutely killed this session.

Yojan + Bel

Bristol, RI

This was easily one of the funnest engagement sessions that the Move Mountains team has done. For starters, who doesn’t love a good state fair in the middle of a Rhode Island summer? We sure do! Then add in the fact that we got to do a photo and video shoot for such a chill and down to earth couple - it definitely made for some magical moments. One last fun fact: the bride-to-be is our very own video editor extraordinaire. So as a team, we really got to push the limits and create something we love!

Move Mountains shot and edited such an amazing engagement video for my fiancé and I. There’s absolutely nothing we would change about it. Such a modern, fresh perspective on what wedding and engagement video/photography should be. Can’t wait to see what they do for my wedding.

Tim + Olivia

Saint Lucy Vincent Beach

Martha’s Vineyard, MA

Tim and Olivia’s engagement session at Martha’s Vineyard was our favorite photo session to date. We loved getting to visit this down to earth couple’s favorite beach with our engagement photography and videography team. We now offer engagement videos for our wedding brides and grooms as the perfect creative element to include in your engagement session. This teaser is easy to share on Instagram and is a beautiful way to remember the days leading up to your wedding. Danilo + Andrea

Tower Hill Botanical Center

Boylston, MA

This New England wedding couple happens to be good friends of ours, so it was an honor getting to capture their engagement photos (and engagement video!) in preparation for their spring wedding at the Tower Hill Botanical Center in Boylston, Massachusetts. This down to earth bride and groom are full of charisma and pure love for each other, it’s actually contagious! In the winter season their creative wedding venue serves as a lush oasis for plants, and in the summer it’s the perfect romantic spot for a wedding! We had a ton of fun at this winter engagement session and we’re in love with how beautiful their photos and engagement film came out. June 8th can’t come soon enough!

Our engagement photos came out looking incredible, we love them!

Tyler + Lauren

Colt State Park

Bristol, Rhode Island

Tyler and Lauren are a down to earth, fun loving couple and our wedding photographers loved getting to photograph their windy March engagement session photos. Their two hour engagement session at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island took full advantage of the early evening light and the diversity of their location. This wedding couple knew that they wanted their Save the Date photos to include some scenic photos by the ocean as well as in the woods, and this portrait session location was the perfect fit to get the best of both worlds. We can’t wait to see them again at their wedding this autumn at Oceancliff!

Jimmie + Kate's Boat Session

Hawthorne Cove

Salem, MA

We’re not gonna lie, our wedding photography and videography team was a little star struck when we first met Boston-based fashion blogger, Prep of Boston! The first time we met Jimmie and Kate was at their favorite spot in Salem, Massachusetts. It was on their boat and by the docks that these two fell in love, and we loved hearing their collection of memories they shared there! It’s always extra meaningful getting to visit different spots that hold sentimental value to our wedding couples for their engagement sessions! Check out their engagement photos and their engagement video below. If you have a special place in mind that you’d like your engagement photos or engagement video taken, we want to hear about it! We got married at a residential home in Rhode Island in October 2017 and Move Mountains did an exceptional job capturing the gorgeous weekend. I absolutely love our photos and really enjoyed working with the photographers. Among what I appreciated: their prices were reasonable, they were willing to customize a package that made sense for our wedding needs and the photographers were very responsive to the style of photography we were going for. My only regret is not booking a bit more time with the photographers. Thank you Move Mountains!
