3 Tips for Your Engagement Session

Saint Lucy Vincent Beach

Martha’s Vineyard, MA

At Move Mountains Co., we believe that engagement sessions are an integral part of the wedding experience. These sessions allow couples to celebrate their love and capture memories that will last a lifetime. In this resource page, we share some essential tips that will help you make the most of your engagement session.

Tip One: Choose a Recommended Location

Choosing a location is crucial for capturing stunning photos during your engagement session. At Move Mountains Co., we highly recommend using our preapproved locations for best results. Our talented photographers are familiar with these spots around Southern New England and know exactly where to find the perfect lighting and scenery. Choosing a new location can be a bit challenging, and sometimes, it may not yield the best results. Click here to view our recommended locations for your engagement session.

Tip Two: Wear Clothing You Feel Confident and Comfortable In

Your engagement session is all about capturing your love and unique personalities. To help you feel confident and comfortable during your session, we recommend wearing clothing that makes you feel good about yourself. It's essential to choose clothing that reflects your personal style and makes you feel your best. If you're a bit self-conscious, we suggest wearing clothing that won't exacerbate your insecurities.

Tip Three: Dress for the Weather

The weather can be unpredictable, especially in Southern New England. Before your engagement session, check the forecast and dress accordingly. If you're having a beach session in April, wearing a flowy thin dress may not be the best idea as it can be freezing and uncomfortable. Instead, we suggest wearing layers and bringing a jacket or sweater just in case. Being comfortable during your session is essential, so make sure you're dressed for the weather.

We hope these tips will help you prepare for your engagement session and make it a memorable experience. At Move Mountains Co., we are passionate about capturing your love and creating memories that will last a lifetime. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us. We look forward to working with you!

Our photos are unbelievable, we love them! Thank you so much.

We’ll start this off by saying if you plan on having your engagement session in the coast, then we suggest you bring a sweater or two. Because let us tell you, Scott and Maggie were absolute troopers putting up with the cold that threatened to derail them on the 18th of April at Elephant Rock Beach. They came ready to go with their vintage like vibe and fun-loving energy. We’re absolutely obsessed with how the color palette went beautifully with or signature Art look! (We’re also absolutely obsessed with the couple and can’t wait for their big day.)

Dylan + Ali

Boston, MA

Throwback to the fall, we loved doing this shoot with Dylan + Ali in Boston, Ma. Engagement Session

Warren, RI

Sometimes the most magical engagement photos can be taken right in the comfort of your home! It was a snowy winter day when our wedding photographers visited this bride and groom’s cozy home for their casual winter engagement session. This was the perfect option for a photo session in February, since the couple was able to stay warm and still take advantage of the snow on the ground outside. We even got some great photos with their dog included! We got married at a residential home in Rhode Island in October 2017 and Move Mountains did an exceptional job capturing the gorgeous weekend. I absolutely love our photos and really enjoyed working with the photographers. Among what I appreciated: their prices were reasonable, they were willing to customize a package that made sense for our wedding needs and the photographers were very responsive to the style of photography we were going for. My only regret is not booking a bit more time with the photographers. Thank you Move Mountains!

Frank + Robyn

Beavertail State Park

Jamestown, RI

Beavertail State Park in Jamestown, Rhode Island just might be our most highly sought after engagement session location! Our wedding photographers love this spot for its hilly terrain, dynamic landscape, and proximity to the ocean! Our wedding couples can’t get enough of this naturally beautiful place for their engagement photos, no matter what season! Josh + Lizzie

Goose Rocks Beach

Kennebunkport, Maine

This past weekend, our wedding photography team bundled up and made the journey to Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, Maine for our most recent adventure! We braved the brisk winter breeze and caught some romantic golden hour beach photos for this surprise engagement session! This wasn’t your average wedding proposal, but this wasn’t your average couple either! It was such an honor to photograph one of our own team members, Josh, as he proposed to his fiancé, Lizzie! Josh is one of our multifaceted creatives on our wedding team, specializing in wedding photography, wedding videography, graphic design, AND he’s one of our drone pilots! Josh has been with us since the beginning, and we’re so excited for him as he enters into this exciting new season! Congratulations, you two!

Move Mountains Co. is by FAR the best wedding photography/videography services in Rhode Island, if not the entire East coast. The camera crew not only feels like family at the end of the wedding, but works hard to get to know the bride, groom, family and guests. I found myself at the wedding standing and talking to each photographer individually for a good chunk of time - each and every one has a heart of gold...I will never forget these guys and I will forever recommend them to anyone getting married. There is nothing better than not worrying about your big day and getting the calming attention of your photographers. Not to mention the enthusiasm when amazing photos are taken - these guys really do love what they do and they make the biggest effort to help you love your wedding day!
